Forsyth NC SAVAN Coverage
North Carolina brands its VINE service as NC SAVAN, short for North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification. It is free and anonymous. Registering for notice does not alert the person whose record is followed. NCDAC policy says state-prison changes flow from the OPUS corrections system, while participating county jails also use SAVAN. That makes the service relevant to both Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center records and North Carolina prison records.
Coverage does not make the feeds interchangeable. FCSO is the source for an adult county-jail booking or final-release record. NCDAC is the source for a state prison, probation, parole, or post-release supervision record. A juvenile matter at Forsyth County Youth Services Center follows confidential channels and should not be forced into an adult search. Federal Bureau of Prisons, ICE, and U.S. Marshals custody require their own agency checks.
Agency status matters. “Released” means the named agency no longer reports that custody. It does not prove unconditional return to the community.

The person may have received a final release, moved to NCDAC, transferred to another jail, entered federal or immigration custody, or left the current query for another reason. FCSO's final-release sheet or receiving-agency record establishes what happened.
Note: Record the time of a VINELink check because custody feeds can change after a move, release, or corrected agency entry.
Forsyth VINELink Release Fields
A VINELink result is a status and notice record, not a certified jail ledger. Fields vary by the participating source, so read the labels displayed on the matched record. State-prison details can also be compared with NCDAC OPI, which carries more sentence and supervision history than a notification record.

For sentenced state offenders, the NCDAC OPI search may display offender number, status, location, conviction and sentence data, projected release date, actual release date, and supervision history. Include inactive records to locate a completed episode. OPI excludes ordinary county-jail records, so it should not be used as proof of a Forsyth bond release.

Forsyth SAVAN PIN Retry Rule
NC SAVAN has a distinct telephone acknowledgment process. NCDAC Policy D.0900 states that the recipient enters the personal PIN after hearing the call. If the PIN is not entered, the system repeats the telephone notice at set intervals for 24 hours. Answering the call without acknowledgment may therefore lead to more calls.

A county-jail transfer to Corrections is continued custody, even if the FCSO feed marks the county episode as ended.

Confirm Forsyth Release Alerts
Use the custodian behind the event. For an FCLEDC record, the FCSO contact route can distinguish a final community release from movement to court, Corrections, another jail, federal custody, or an authorized agency. Ask for final release date and time, release authority, disposition, and destination agency for a transfer. A court case can explain the bond, dismissal, sentence, or release order, but the court event is not always the physical jail exit time.
For NCDAC custody, OPI can retain prison and community-supervision history after the person leaves a prison. “Active” can mean parole, probation, or PRS in the community. “Inactive” means there is no current NCDAC custody or supervision record, but the episode must still be read. A projected release date is not an actual release event.

Missing Forsyth VINELink Results
A blank search result does not establish release. First repeat the search with the offender or booking ID and likely name forms. Then check whether the expected agency participates and whether the person has moved outside that agency's feed. A short delay can occur between an internal custody event and the public notification system.
If the person was at FCLEDC, call 336-917-7600 and ask whether the record reflects final release or transfer. If FCSO reports a transfer to Corrections, use NCDAC OPI. A federal transfer belongs in the BOP locator, while current ICE detention belongs in the ICE locator. U.S. Marshals pretrial custody may be housed through a contracted facility, so the physical jail and federal case channels can both matter.
When one named record must be preserved, request the source document. A focused FCSO request should give full name and aliases, birth date if known, booking or inmate number, and booking date. Ask for the booking sheet, final-release sheet, release authorization, and jail-management history. The package can clarify the final timestamp, authority, disposition, and receiving agency that a VINELink notice may not show.
A court disposition provides another cross-check. The Forsyth County court office now uses the statewide eCourts Portal for public case events, but the Portal is not the official court record. Users may search by name and city or ZIP, nearby address, coordinates, or Sex Registration Number after accepting the terms. Local sheriffs enter registration information, while SBI maintains statewide access.
Registry email notices are configured at the SBI notification registration for one-, three-, or five-mile address radii. Telephone notices can follow a particular registrant or movement into a ZIP code through SAVAN. Those alerts concern registry events and must not be confused with a general Forsyth County inmate release notification.
SBI notes that some registry data is reported by the registrant and can change. Errors should be directed to the registering sheriff. That correction path is also separate from VINELink support and from an FCSO jail-record request.
